General Information

Scouting, at all levels, is a uniformed organisation which has an ethos of discipline and respect for oneself and others and which, through a structured and progressive programme of training, tries to encourage youngsters to be self reliant, confident in their abilities and better fitted for adult life.

Scouting at Horbury starts from the age of 6 years old up to 14 years old.
All the sections meet in our own headquarters at Horbury Bridge.

As a Group we have been fortunate to have been endowed with high calibre Leaders who have been loyal over many years and have devoted a lot of their precious spare time to the development of the children on Horbury and its surrounding areas.

These leaders are ordinary people who have shown a willingness to commit some of their time for no financial gain whatever, for the benefit of others.

8th Wakefield (Horbury Bridge) has a lot to offer keen, lively youngsters, helping them to develop into responsible, mature and capable young adults who, with all our support, might just go on to make a difference in their world.
